CORRECTION 6/17/08: In my article below from 2/1/08 I had implied that Mitt Romney's Bain Capital owned Clearchannel. Although this has been reported (see links below) and even referenced by Mike Huckabee during his presidential campaign race, (watch video below) it is not true,. Thanks very much to Dennis for the correction.

Martin,

I notice that you have been saying that Clear Channel is owned by "Mitt Romney's Bain Capital." Romney left Bain Capital years ago and the sale of Clear Channel to a consortium that included Bain Capital has yet to go through. The following is from yesterday's Media Daily News:

Second Time Round: Clear Channel Schedules Shareholder Vote
by Erik Sass, Monday, Jun 16, 2008 7:30 AM ET

Clear Channel Communications has scheduled a special shareholder meeting for July 24--when its shareholders will vote to accept or reject a revised, $17.9 billion buyout offer from two private-equity firms, Thomas H. Lee Partners and Bain Capital Partners.

"Clearchannel just recently went up for auction. Mitt Romney's Bain Capital bought it along with Thomas H Lee Partners, but I'm not sure who owns them. The rumor on the Street was that there might be regulatory problems because the firms own positions in other media companies, but I'm not sure which ones. L.A. Clearchannel KFI Host Shills For Romney, says "I don't care about people's gun issues"

John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou, hosts of 'the John and Ken Show' on on KFI AM 60, Los Angeles, interviewed Mitt Romney on Friday February 1st, 2008.

Romney was on air for about 20 minutes and the station did not allow any questions from callers during that time.

After the interview was over they opened up the lines for caller comments. Virtually every call was favorable towards Romney, with one sycophantic remark after another, until the end of the 5 O'clock hour when I called in.

Listen to the Romney interview and my call towards the end of the show HERE.

John Kobylt: Let's go to Martin, Martin you're on the John & Ken show on KFI.

Martin: "John & Ken, Romney's a phony, he's on record saying "I'm to the left of Ted Kennedy", he had socialized medicine for illegal aliens in Massachusetts; and as a lifelong Republican Mitt Romney he said we need more gun control in this country. THAT'S NOT A REPUBLICAN!"

....
John Kobylt: .."Aye Aye Aye. i don't care about gun issues... I just was gonna say- he was yelling about gun issues, I don't care about people's gun issues".

Excerpts From: The Mitt Romney Deception
by Brian Camenker, MassResistance
November 20, 2006 "Republican Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney is trying to accomplish in his final year in office what Democrats can only dream of these days: boosting government spending on and regulation of health care and requiring individuals to purchase government-designed policies. Romney's plan, which is backed by such liberals as Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, Mass.), is being pitched as a compact between citizens and the state." - National Review Online, 1/26/2006

Video Of Liberal Mitt Romney Surfaces; Touts Abortion Rights, Distances Self From Reagan
By Greg Sargent | bio
Josh Benson of The New York Observer has just gotten his hands on an amazing find: Video of Mitt Romney at a 1994 debate with Ted Kennedy, whom Romney was trying to unseat from the Senate at the time. In the debate, Romney -- who's tried to position himself as the GOP primary's only authentic conservative -- forcefully expresses his support for abortion rights and aggressively distances himself from the policies of Ronald Reagan.
