CA State Senator Tom McClintock, who had formerly endorsed his buddy Fred Thompson, says he’s now considering Ron Paul for president… but, he’s still not sure. Let’s take a careful look at McClintock’s sordid history of endorsements.

"If we don't stick to our principles, then what is the point of winning?", Tom McClintock said, to boisterous cheers at a campaign rally in La Canada California on September 27, 2003. It was a week before he would go against 'the terminator' in a statewide recall election for California governor. (I will post video of this speech soon.)

I am a former ardent supporter of California State Senator Tom McClintock. In this article, I will outline my contention that in 2008, Tom McClintock is a sellout and a phony; he not only doesn't deserve the support of the freedom movement, (the measly 13% that used to support him, of which I was a part) but I will actively campaign against McClintock for any future position he seeks. McClintock finishes his second four-year term in the state senate in 2008, which is the maximum according to state law. Rumor had it that McClintock might seek the U.S. Congressional seat of Elton Gallegly, who had announced his retirement in 2006 but later changed his mind. McClintock has held public office for 26 years, so it's likely he will continue to seek some sort of elected position. Sadly, Tom has shown that he does not stick to his principles; he supports and advocates evil traitorous men, and should not be trusted. This has been apparent for quite some time among freedom advocates who follow California politics, but McClintock's recent actions take the cake. McClintock's endorsement of Schwarzenegger for governor in 2006 was enough to convince me not to vote for him for Lt. Governor. Schwarzenegger, the gun-grabbing son of a Nazi who promotes 'universal health care' socialism and bans cell phones while driving, would never be the choice of any decent or principled person, for any reason. When Schwarzenegger won in 2003 and met traitor Bush for the first time as governor in Riverside California, I was so disgusted with Republicans that I went down to protest both of them and made the 11 O'Clock news. Yet since that time, McClintock has endorsed Schwarzenegger and other enemies of freedom. This is why McClintock deserves to be shunned. More on Arnold later. But first, let's talk about another one of McClintock's heros, Fred.

Former U.S. Senator and Council on Foreign Relations member Fred Thompson, who recently dropped out of the presidential race because of dismal support, had recently recieved the glowing endorsement of Tom McClintock. McClintock even served as the California Chairman of the actor's defunct presidential campaign.

Thompson, otherwise known as 'Cheney With a Drawl', and remembered as a 'mole' for Nixon White House is the typical establishment's man neocon, supporting undeclared wars and big government. Even fellow republicans such as James Dobson 'Trashed Fred Thompson'. Defending the wildly unpopular fiasco in Iraq, Thompson told CNN, "We will not be a safer country, we will not be a safer America if the whole world watches us being defeated by a bunch of kids with improvised explosive devices,". He claimed "forces are succeeding", and "we didn't know what we were facing" when we went into Iraq. McClintock, who is purportedly a constitutionalist with libertarian leanings, loses credibility by endorsing such a candidate for president.

In his endorsement, McClintock announced,

Perhaps McClintock is itching for membership into the CFR?

Two months before endorsing Thompson, on 8-16-07, Tom McClintock had interviewed Republican presidential candidate Congressman Ron Paul on KOGO AM, San Diego, While sitting in for radio host Roger Hedgecock. (Listen here.)On that show, McClintock said

It's quite a stretch go from praising Ron Paul to endorsing Fred Thompson. What happened? Let's take a closer look at McClintock's politically schizophrenic record.

Back during the California recall elction when voters ousted Gray Davis, 135 candidates eventually made it onto the ballot, but one republican who refused to drop out and concede to Schwarzenegger's celebrity status was Tom McClintock. I was a steadfast supporter of McClintock in his bid for governor. I attended many of the rallies in La Canada and Orange County, went to the debate in Los Angeles, and met McClintock 3 times. I protested Schwarzenegger outside the California Republican convention for his failure, up to that point, to debate McClintock. I sent McClintock's office a fax thanking him for sticking to his principles and not cowering down to the GOP establishment's pressure. I called my own state senator at the time, Jim Brulte, and asked his office staff why, as a supposed conservative, he supported the open-border gun-grabbing pro-abortionist Schwarzenegger for governor. I supported and publicized McClintock's bid during the recall to abolish the car registration fee entirely. He had a website at the time, NOCARTAX.COM, and he needed signatures to get the measure for a California Constitutional ammendment onto the ballot. Believe it or not, the people of California did not support this attempt. I guess they like paying the car tax every year. I have video footage of dozens of perplexed republicans, torn between their support for McClintock and his limited government ideals and their fear that "he just can't win", and that Bustamonte would win if they 'wasted their vote" on Tom. "If we give up our principles, then what is the point of winning??" Tom would plead at his rallies, to exuberant cheers. In short, this election mattered and I was so glad that there appeared to be a principled candidate who stood for limited government and strict adherance to both the U.S. and California Constitutions.

AGAINST ARNOLD On Sep 13, 2003, The San Francisco Chronicle ran an article by Carolyn Lochhead about McClintock, entitled Right-leaning 'ideologue' known for his commitment to principle. Lochhead cogently summarized the ideology of McClintock's supporters: Washington -- Like British soccer fans, Tom McClintock's hard-core conservative supporters sound like they would rather burn down the stadium than switch their loyalty to Arnold Schwarzenegger, even if it means losing California's governorship to someone who makes Gov. Gray Davis look like a Republican. "To get a victory just to have a Republican there and still lose all of the issues that you feel strongly about -- what kind of victory is that?" asked Sam Paredes, executive director of Gun Owners of California. It is McClintock's unwavering conservatism that builds such devotion among his supporters. His chief cause has always been lower taxes and smaller government, with less emphasis but no less steadiness on social issues such as abortion and gun control. In classic libertarian fashion, he pushed the failed San Fernando Valley Secession bill to allow the valley to withdraw from Los Angeles County.

During the recall race, outraged pro-life activists derided republican support of Schwarzenegger. McClintock called on Schwarzenegger to drop out of the race if the allegations of sexual misconduct against him were true. [2]

On September 24, 2003, Matt Welch of REASON magazine wrote, McClintock, a Goldwater/Reagan/Milton Friedman acolyte, has sworn from the beginning that he will not step down, and complains wryly that he's getting a raw deal. "If the most qualified candidate has to step aside every time a millionaire casts a lonely eye on a public office, then we've lost something very important in our democracy," he said this week. "This isn't a lark for me; it's what I've devoted my entire adult life to achieve for my state. And we've now reached a time when those reforms can no longer be postponed." [3]

On September 25, 2003, McClintock sent a message to his supporters:

Neocons such as David Dreier (who currently supports Giulani for president) and Hugh Hewitt shilled vehemently for the open border socialist Arnold with all their might. Celebrity worship, complete abandonment of conservative principles by Republicans and a fear of a Bustamonte win eventually prevailed, and MCClintock got an abysmal 13% of the vote on election day, October 7, 2003. The morning after the election, CNN reported "McClintock conceded defeat to Schwarzenegger less than an hour after polls closed and cast the day's events as a win for the state."

Since that time, Schwarzenegger has more than lived up to his left wing credo, signing pro-homosexual bills, advocating open borders and a 'free flow of people', villifying sovereignty advocates as 'prejudiced', wasting more money than Gray Davis, banning guns, appointing a new director of the DMV who wants to tax drivers for every mile they drive, and funding embryonic stem cell research with state taxpayer dollars. Despite all this, McClintock later endorsed Schwarzenegger in the next governor's election, abandoning any principles he had previously claimed to be so ardent about defending. Let's take a look at some of Arnold's more noteworthy actions:

Calif. Governor Signs Pro-Homosexual Bill -Outrages Family Advocates Karen England, executive director of the Capitol Resource Institute (CRI), described the measure as not "even a veiled attempt at subtly advancing the radical homosexual agenda," but "an outright, blatant assault on religious freedom." She calls the bill "yet another attempt to prevent citizens with moral and religious principles from expressing their beliefs and educating their children according to those beliefs." Schwarzenegger gives $150M stem cell loan -Laura Kurtzman, A.P. (7/20/06) Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Thursday authorized a $150 million loan to fund California's stem cell institute, which has been stalled by lawsuits. "I remain committed to advancing stem cell research in California, in the promise it holds for millions of our citizens who suffer from chronic diseases and injuries that could be helped as a result of stem cell research," Schwarzenegger said in a letter to his finance director.

OPEN BORDERS Schwarzenegger calls for a 'free flow of people' across our borders: "..the freest economy in history, depend on a free flow of people."[4] In the summer of 2006 Schwarzenegger revealed how clueless he was about the public's anger over illegal immigration, and referred to them as 'prejudiced'. [4.1] "An outdoor campaign appearance by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger quickly turned into a bitter complaint session Tuesday, with conservative voters visibly angry at him over illegal immigration and the parole of murderers. ... After the event, Schwarzenegger told reporters that he found the questions, which went "into dangerous areas," troubling. "This was really the first time I had seen the intensity of prejudice," the governor said. "I had this woman come up to me [afterward] and say, 'Stop the invasion.' It was that kind of dialogue. It was 'invasion' or 'robbing our country' or they want to take it back." McClintock later appeared on KFI 640's John and Ken show the week of August 12 defending Schwarzenegger's comments, making the unsubstanciated claim that Arnold made the remarks 'in the heat of the moment' and that 'he didn't mean' them.

GUN GRABBING 1/9/05: Governor Schwarzenegger has now effectively banned more firearms than Senators Kennedy, Feinstein and Schumer combined,� said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF senior vice president and general counsel. �The governor has proven to gun owners and sportsmen that he is just another liberal anti-gun Hollywood actor � he just plays a moderate Republican on TV. Mr. Schwarzenegger has now exposed himself for what he really is, the most anti-gun and anti-sportsmen governor in America. [4.2] [ The.50 caliber military rifle was just banned in California, but is still available in 49 states. California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger decided there�s a weapon that�s too dangerous to be in the hands of private citizens. This past week, a new law went into effect in California banning that weapon. It�s the .50-caliber rifle, the Rolls Royce of sniper rifles. It�s a big gun, a favorite of armies around the world, and it�s still available in 49 states in this country to anyone over 18 with a clean record." [CBS NEWS] Info on Assembly Bill 50: Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed the bill on September 13, 2004.. This bill, effective January 1, 2005, prohibits the sale of .50 caliber BMG rifles. This bill authorizes the State Department of Justice to register legally-possessed BMG rifles until April 30, 2006, to assess a $25 registration fee, and to issue dangerous weapons permits for their possession, sale, manufacture and transportation. This bill makes it a misdemeanor to possess a BMG rifle that is not registered after April 30, 2007. This bill expands existing law to make assault with a BMG rifle a felony punishable by four, eight or 12 years in state prison. [Google: Schwarzenegger bans 50 caliber] The son of a Nazi SS officer followed that up in October 2007. Schwarzenegger Sides With Gun Control Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed the Crime Gun Identification Act over the weekend, and that means gun sellers by 2010 - if there are any left in the state by that time -- will have to use "microstamping" technology on every semiautomatic pistol they sell. The new law, AB 1471, requires information about a gun's make, model and identification number to be laser engraved onto the gun's firing pin. Theoretically, the information would transfer itself onto the bullet cartridge when the pistol is fired, allowing police to match bullet casings found at crime scenes with the gun that fired the bullet. Before he started endorsing gun-control advocates, McClintock purported to be a defender of the 2nd ammendment. On June 9, 2001, he gave a great speech, 'Freedom and Firearms':

FOR ARNOLD McClintock, who insisted we should not elect Arnold in 2003, then said this before the 2006 election: "Like many of us, I too have disagreements with some of the Governor's proposals. These differences, however, do not justify the abandonment of our party's responsibility to work tirelessly to reelect this Republican governor and to elect our GOP candidates to statewide and legislative offices. For this reason, I view any effort to attack Governor Schwarzenegger as an attack on my own candidacy and those of every Republican seeking partisan office in 2006." Arnold Schwarzenegger and support him and Schwarzenegger as a ticket. State Sen. Tom McClintock urged members of the conservative California Republican Assembly not to snub Schwarzenegger "because there is disagreement on certain issues."

AGAINST ARNOLD Soon after advocating Arnold's re-election, McClintock once again turned against the governor, stating "I will never trust another word he says". This guy gives new meaning to the term 'flip-flopper'. "GOP Sen. Tom McClintock, a favorite of conservatives, accuses Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger of seeking a tax hike for his health care plan. McClintock said he will not attend Schwarzenegger's address because he is so dismayed by the governor's positions. "Many Republicans supported him in 2006 based on the simple, unequivocal campaign promise he made not to raise taxes," McClintock said. "He broke that promise and proposed the second-largest tax increase in state history. I will never trust another word he says."[5] In June 2007, McClintock seemed to concede that his choice for governor was worse than Gray Davis: "Put another way, in five years, Davis accumulated a combined deficit of $4.2 billion and Schwarzenegger is on track during his first five years to put us in debt by $10 billion. At his May 14 press conference, the governor boasted of wrestling the deficit down from $16.5 billion to $1.4 billion, an impressive feat, if true. Unfortunately, it is merely an impressive fiction. Sorry to rain on the parade, but as John Adams said, "Facts are stubborn things." [6] In February 2007 Tom McClintock started a new website, carepublic.com the purpose of which is, in his words, "to make it easy for you to hold our politicians accountable for their actions". McClintock complains, "I have been watching the disastrous turn to the Left that is now taking place in Sacramento � and like you, I don�t intend to sit idly by. ".......Spending is growing faster and the deficit is growing bigger than under Gray Davis. The Governor who promised to �cut up the credit cards� has doubled our debt burden in just three years. And 72 hours after he took the oath of office, the Governor who promised never to raise taxes proposed the second biggest tax increase in California�s history to provide free health insurance to illegal aliens.

OTHER NEOCONS McClintock also endorsed John Campbell for Congress. Campbell has since towed the neocon line, rejecting a timetable for the withdrawal from Iraq, voting yes on the Military Commissions Act, and voting no on a proposed ban on cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment of detainees held by U.S. forces. Campbell also voted to give spy agencies expanded power to eavesdrop without a court order.

RFID MICROCHIPS On October 12, 2007 Governor Schwarzenegger signed SB 362 - Joe Simitian's RFID Bill (Identification devices: subcutaneous implanting). The new law 'prohibits a person or business from requiring, coercing, or compelling any other individual to undergo the subcutaneous implanting of an identification device'. McClintock agreed with the bill, correctly stating �There�s a very simple principle here; your movements and your behavior are none of the government�s business. Not in any free nation.� However, the CA Legislature website shows that he voted against the bill on 8/30/07.

To top his previous circus act, McClintock is now shilling for another globalist phony, Fred Thompson. LA Times blog reported:
